Breakfast is Serious Stuff

After taking the paleo lifestyle seriously back in January of this year I also took breakfast seriously.  I will admit I have the advantage of having an amateur chef for a husband who works from home and would graciously get up each morning and make me the most amazing breakfasts of bacon or sausage and eggs with avocado or a breakfast scramble with eggs, spinach, onion, peppers, and tomatoes, and sometimes when we were tired of eggs we would have a fruit and nut salad, sauteed Brussels sprouts, or yummy leftovers from the night before.  I admit that I don’t know how well I would have succeeded without him to prepare these meals.  My breakfasts would have always been leftovers as opposed to something fresh!    

I also confess, much of my breakfast dining is done in my vehicle on the way to work.  Our son is only 14 months old (tomorrow!) so to say I haven’t gotten much solid sleep in the past year is pretty much an understatement!  So it’s all I can do most days to get myself out of bed and out the door and be only a few minutes late for work as opposed to being 15 minutes late for work.  But even though I don’t get around to sitting down and enjoying my morning before I head out the door, I make sure to fuel my body for the day.  I actually can’t believe I only used to down a bowl of cereal and milk.  I was always famished an hour after breakfast and I didn’t know it then but now I realize why I was always in such a haze.

Now I truly feel energetic, ready to go, and am much more focused on any task whether it’s my drive in or just organizing my thoughts once I get to the office.  I know that now with the paleo lifestyle it is sometimes more difficult to prepare a nourishing breakfast but that it is truly a key element to starting your day off on the right foot for so many reasons.  Having a nourishing breakfast sets you up for success with your paleo choices throughout the day.  I know when I’ve had a great breakfast I’m less likely to want to “ruin it” by eating something non-paleo.  It has also taken a bit of “undoing” to reset our minds that breakfast doesn’t have to consist of grains and dairy.  We love chicken breast and veggies for breakfast or meatballs!  And I’m the “baker” so I love trying new paleo muffins, fruit and nut bars, granola, and pancakes or waffles. 

That’s part of the reason we created breakfast items at POTG and why we will be focusing on adding some variety with new breakfast products as well.  Eggs and bacon can get boring and if you’re like me, when you get bored you get lazy because you don’t want to spend a lot of time slaving over the bacon and eggs when you’re just not that into it.  If you have any breakfast ideas or suggestions please share them here because we’d love to spend our time creating products that will serve you and your needs.  I know that I love having POTG breakfast items in my freezer for those days where I need some variety and I don’t feel like cooking but deep down I know I need to make the best choice for my health. 

I definitely don’t want to seem like I’m always pitching our products; however, this is our family business and the reason why we created this business was because we are absolutely passionate about and believe in the paleo lifestyle, we have seen the benefits ourselves, and we truly want to share it with you! 

For now, I’m going to enjoy my day and hope to share more with you soon about how we’re handling Thanksgiving this year living the paleo lifestyle and visiting with family and friends who are not paleo.
