Mmm. Ketchup. It’s America’s third favorite condiment. We pour it on just about anything we eat. The leading brand, Heinz, is found in nearly everyone’s house. But, did you know it’s made up of 25% sugar (which is actually corn syrup, not cane sugar)? It also contains the ambiguous “Natural Flavoring” which often means hidden MSG.

Fortunately, ketchup is actually a very simple condiment, so why not just make it at home? Executive Chef Ann created this recipe that actually contains no added sugar at all (yay!), while tasting much fresher than store-bought varieties.

Looking for some sauce to spruce up your meal, but not interested in making it? Paleo on the Go has a number of sauces you can add to your cart that are real food approved; no fake additives.
